March is Woman’s History Month. As a woman-owned business, ChemCeed celebrates the achievements of women in STEM fields in particular, which have traditionally been male-dominated. ChemCeed has been certified on a national level as a woman-owned business since 2016 through Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the nation’s largest third party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women in the United States. The National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) reports that only 3.5% of all distributors in the organization are certified as woman-owned businesses. Marimel Enderes, ChemCeed President, hopes to see these numbers increase in the future. “I’ve personally seen an increase in the number of women in the industry in the 14 years that I’ve been in the chemical industry. There are more women who attend the trade shows and more women in purchasing or higher management roles. I hope that this trend continues over the next few years,” she says.
