New Tariffs Set to go into Effect on More Than $200 Billion of Chinese Goods

The Trump Administration announced Monday, September 17th it will enact tariffs on more than $200 billion worth of Chinese goods.

The U.S. tariffs start at a rate of 10%, before rising to 25% at the end of the year unless a resolution is reached between the U.S. and China. On Tuesday, China had already announced retaliatory tariffs in the amount of $60 billon on goods imported from the U.S.

The new U.S. tariffs will come into effect on September 24th, 2018. Any goods imported from China that are subject to the tariff must pay the additional 10% duty if they arrive to a U.S. port on September 24th or a later date.
