Application
Tributyl Phosphate (TBP) is a versatile chemical used as both a plasticizer and solvent across a wide range of applications. It is commonly employed with cellulose esters, lacquers, plastics, and vinyl resins, and serves as an effective solvent for inks, synthetic resins, gums, adhesives, and concentrated herbicide and fungicide formulations. In coatings, paper, and textiles, TBP functions as an antifoaming or defoaming agent, while also being applied in rubber-based paints, vinyl latex emulsions, cement, and resin-based adhesives. Beyond these uses, it is incorporated into hydraulic fluids, acts as a strong wetting agent in the textile industry, and is used as a neutral extractant for separating acids or metal cations.
