Application
Tetra n-Butyl Titanate (TNBT) is a highly reactive, 100% active organic alkoxy titanate used primarily as a catalyst and coating chemical. Appearing as a clear, colorless to pale yellow liquid, it is moisture-sensitive and functions as a Lewis acid catalyst in esterification, transesterification, condensation, addition, and olefin polymerization processes. TNBT is well-suited as an adhesion promoter and crosslinking agent for hydroxylic compounds, polymers, and heat- and corrosion-resistant coatings, and it can also form polymeric titanium dioxide layers for use in binders and coatings. Additionally, it serves as a moisture scavenger to extend the shelf life of moisture-sensitive, high-viscosity products, though it is only suitable for use in solvent-based systems.
