Application
Neodecanoic Acid Glycidyl Ester (NDGE) is the monoglycidyl ester of neodecanoic acid, primarily used as a low-viscosity diluent for high-viscosity epoxy resins. With its low vapor pressure and less irritating odor compared to other monofunctional diluents, NDGE provides processing advantages while enhancing ease of handling. Like other aliphatic monofunctional epoxides, its incorporation into epoxy resins extends gel times and modifies cured properties, though it may reduce thermal and chemical resistance as well as modulus. Beyond epoxy systems, NDGE also serves as a versatile monomer in the production of polyester, acrylic, and alkyd resins through reaction with carboxylic acid groups. Resins derived from NDGE deliver performance benefits such as improved wetting, enhanced gloss, greater flexibility, and increased salt spray resistance, making it a valuable additive for durable and high-quality coatings and resin systems.
