Application
Maleic Anhydride is a highly versatile chemical intermediate valued for its ability to make dissimilar chemistries compatible and enhance the durability and performance of end products. It is widely used in the production of alkyd resins for paints and coatings, as well as unsaturated polyester resins (UPR) for fiberglass composites found in boats, cars, construction materials, wind turbine blades, and various consumer goods. Beyond resins, it plays a key role in manufacturing agricultural chemicals, lubricant additives, copolymers, and plasticizers, and finds applications in food additives and epoxy curing. Its reactivity also supports the creation of copolymers that enable more sustainable raw materials, such as binding wood fibers into plastics, inhibiting corrosion, forming protective wire coatings, and providing water-repellent properties in sunscreens.
