Application
Lithium 12-Hydroxystearate is a preformed thickener used in the manufacture of lithium greases, offering faster, more efficient production—often in as little as four hours—compared to conventional in situ methods. By eliminating the water removal step, it reduces energy consumption, shortens processing time, and lowers overall manufacturing costs. This approach also enables greater accuracy and consistency, while allowing the use of heat-sensitive base oils such as soy, vegetable, or esters, as well as additives prone to degradation under high heat. Compatible with most base oils, including PAO and esters, it is available in NSF HX-1 and White Book listed grades for producing H1 greases suitable for incidental food contact.
