Application
Cyclohexane is a low boiling, fast evaporating, nonpolar solvent that appears as a colorless liquid. It is a cycloalkane and the cyclic form of hexane, produced primarily through the hydrogenation of benzene or by fractionation and purification of hydrocarbon streams, with alternative production routes including toluene hydrodealkylation. The main use of cyclohexane is in the production of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone, which serve as key precursors for adipic acid and caprolactam. It is also used in various solvent applications.
