Monopentaerythritol is a polyol, or polyhydric alcohol, that serves as a versatile building block for numerous compounds. It is an odorless, free-flowing white crystalline powder that is non-hygroscopic and stable in storage. It is primarily used in the production of alkyd resins, it is also employed in manufacturing rosin esters, oil-modified urethane resins, modified drying oils, synthetic lubricants, plasticizers, intumescent paints, plastics, and plastic stabilizers.
