Application
Isopropyl Palmitate (IPP) is an economical liquid ester produced from vegetal palmitic acid and petrochemical isopropyl alcohol. A light, non-occlusive emollient, it provides a soft, dry, non-oily feel and is widely used in personal care products as a pigment binder, diluent, and solubilizing agent for mineral oil, silicones, lanolin, and fragrances. As a long-chain fatty acid monoester, IPP also serves as a Group IV base fluid and lubricity additive in metalworking fluids, offering solubility in castor oil, compatibility with other oils, strong resistance to hydrolysis, and suitability for water-based systems. Its biodegradability and low toxicity make it ideal for environmentally friendly lubricant formulations.
