Application
MPac CP-9 is a water soluble, synthetic corrosion inhibitor designed as a highly effective, low-cost preservative for cast iron and steel alloys that does not affect aluminum alloys and other non-ferrous materials. It provides corrosion protection on ferrous surfaces when the pH is approximately 8.0 or higher. MPac CP-9 is virtually non-foaming and has outstanding stability in hard water.
MPac CP-9, is particularly useful where temporary rust protection is needed. When water is allowed to evaporate, a thin liquid film remains that provides rust protection to ferrous surfaces, even under high humidity conditions. This film can easily be removed by rinsing with water. It also burns off cleanly in annealing or other high temperature processing operations.
MPac CP-9 is composed of a mixture of organic acid salts, but is not based on PTBBA, nitrites or borates. It is diethanolamine free and boron free. This product can be waste treated by simply adjusting the pH below the methyl orange end point.
MPac CP-9 can be used in metalworking fluid formulations, water/glycol or other water based industrial fluids, hard surface cleaners and forming and drawing compounds. It is compatible with most commonly used materials for compounding these types of products, including: glycols and polyalkylene glycols, alcohols, surfactants, alkaline builders, etc. If using acidic additives, the pH must be adjusted to 7.0 or above to maintain stability and to 8.0 or above to obtain maximum anti-corrosion efficiency. Suggested treatment level for end use is 0.3-0.5% depending on the end use product application and pH of the fluid.
