Application

Propylene Carbonate (PC) is a VOC-exempt, clear polar solvent with a high boiling point, high flash point, mild ether-like odor, and low toxicity. Stable under most conditions, non-hygroscopic, and non-corrosive, it is especially suited for applications requiring high purity or water-white products. PC is compatible with isocyanates and is often used as a reactive diluent to improve handling, processing, and cost efficiency across various applications. It is widely employed in cosmetics, surface cleaners, degreasers, dyes, fibers, plastics, aromatic hydrocarbons, and natural gas processing. In addition, it plays an important role in the textile and synthetic fiber industries for its outstanding solvency and reactivity. A notable modern use of propylene carbonate is in rechargeable lithium batteries, where it serves as the primary filler, making up about 80% of the electrolyte content.
