Application
Dibutyl Maleate (DBM) is a colorless liquid unsaturated ester used as an additive and intermediate in the manufacture of plastics, pigments, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural products. It serves as a plasticizer for vinyl resins and is widely used in copolymer applications involving PVC and vinyl acetates. DBM is also employed in the production of paints, adhesives, plastisols, dispersions, coatings, and synthetic lubricants. Additionally, it functions as a comonomer in vinyl and acrylic emulsion polymerization and plays a role in the synthesis of sulfosuccinate surfactants used in detergents and paints. Its utility in organic synthesis includes serving as a dienophile in diene reactions.
