Application

Butyl Benzyl Phthalate (BBP) is a clear, oily, high-solvating plasticizer designed for a wide range of applications across multiple resin systems. Known for its fast fusion and high plasticizing efficiency, BBP can be used alone or in combination with other general-purpose plasticizers. It is particularly effective in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) hot processing operations such as calendaring and extrusion, where it significantly reduces molten viscosity and imparts excellent processing characteristics. BBP enhances tear, tensile, and abrasion resistance and is widely used in vinyl flooring. It also provides outstanding resistance to extraction by gasoline, oil, water, and staining from common household materials, making it a preferred choice over alternatives like DBP. BBP is compatible with resins such as polyvinyl acetate, nitrocellulose, ethyl cellulose, and acrylics, where it improves gloss, flowout, flexibility, clarity, and toughness. Applications include nitrocellulose lacquers and films, white glue, acrylic caulks, adhesives, sealants, and protective coatings. Additionally, BBP is used in case hardening, cleaning/purging operations, and as a carrier for biocides, pigments, and other additives, offering durability with minimal heat degradation and maximum resistance to oil and water.
