Application

Benzoic Acid is a colorless crystalline solid and the simplest aromatic carboxylic acid. It is a weak acid widely used in both industrial and consumer applications. Naturally occurring in animals, plants, and resins, Benzoic Acid serves as a food preservative through its salts, and as a natural topical antiseptic in some products. Industrially, it is an important precursor in the production of phenol, glycol benzoates, and other benzoate-based plasticizers, as well as an intermediate in the synthesis of alkyd resins and various organic chemicals. Benzoic Acid is also used in the manufacture of sodium salts, inhalant decongestants, and as an additive in drilling muds for crude oil extraction. Additionally, it contributes to storage stability and corrosion inhibition in emulsions, polishes, waxes, paints, and liquid detergents. In rubber polymerization, it acts as an activator and can also function as a modifier in flame retardant materials.
