Application
Benzotriazole is a corrosion inhibitor widely used for the protection of copper, copper alloys, and other metals. It forms a strong, wipe- and cleaning-resistant protective film, making it effective in applications such as cooling tower products, engine coolants, metalworking fluids, inks, and cleaners. Commonly used in water cooling systems, Benzotriazole is also found in automotive antifreeze, dishwasher detergents as a silver polishing agent, and as an antirust additive in photography. Beyond corrosion inhibition, Benzotriazole derivatives are used in the production of anti-fading agents, antiseptic agents, UV-absorbers, pesticides, and photoconductors. It also exhibits various bioactive properties, including antihypertensive, antibacterial, analgesic, antifungal, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory effects.
